In negotiation.

Five tentative locations across the globe.

Set-up phase 3 – 36 months.

Physical focus for local and regional ecosystem development.

Educraftor Innovation Hub – to be named locally according to ecosystem need.

The Educraftor Innovation Hub (EIH) is both a modern flexible physical space as well as a set of processes for learning, team development, entrepreneurship and innovation.

An EIH works as a focus and platform for dialogue in the local ecosystem or cluster. The model is a self-replicating model and the space + the processes designed for the space support the creation of other Innovation Hubs, Educraftory.Lab – Active Learning Laboratories and Educraftory.Inc – Incubators locally and regionally.

the physical space is a combination of three types of spaces.

The three different spaces act as layers of knowledge and action as well as locally provide a platform for the key stakeholders of the innovation loop ensuring that the work continuously takes place.

The stakeholders are:

the practitioners (teachers etc.), the innovators (startup entrepreneurs.), the researchers (see picture), the decision makers and the innovation coaches.

The layers are:

an innovative learning space.

A space is a multi-purpose space designed to support learning. It works as a:

focus for the learning ecosystem, a platform for dissemination of best practice innovations and as a platform for dialogue.

It contains areas for: focused work ie. privacy, team work and collaboration, one-to-many /presentations, movement /between zones and for activation, has a watering holes /relaxation and collisions, camp fires /sharing and reflection and creation zones /creativity and making

Enabled by various edtech innovations like the EMTI Box and an array of modern best practice ICT solutions.

a co-working space.

The start-up and innovation office (for corporations) the innovators layer of the innovation hub is crucial.

The modern flexible shared office, hot desks/sit-anywhere, fixed desks/resident members, team (war) rooms/resident teams and ad-hoc project teams.

This part of the space works as the connector layer, bringing key ecosystem stakeholders in-house.

a makerspace.

A space with digital fabrication tools for prototyping, creating, IoT, robotics etc. can join the FabLab network or be a Hacklab, depending on local focus.

Makerspaces are the glue between sectors, they are the concretisation of ideas and the physical creation of your ideas. Makerspaces are innovation mills where small businesses are launched, where artist come to create and where hard skills melt together with soft skills.

All ecosystems need a focus to accelerate their development and growth. We’ve seen this in both Tartu, Estonia as well as Turku, Finland. Unfortunately the space itself and the basic ecosystem activities it enables is not enough. Learning and innovation processes and a culture of praxis is needed to ensure continued growth and acceleration of the ecosystem stakeholders.

a platform for learning and dialogue.

There are several type of Innovation Hubs, the ones we have in development are focused on:

  • Entrepreneurial education and team learning
  • Startups and incubator processes
  • Freelancers, small businesses and community
  • Innovation in Learning and Education (systematic regional transformation)

An innovation hub is always focused towards real and immediate needs in the local ecosystem, this way the investment is always relevant both locally and regionally.
